Thought for the Day: The Relentless Love of God

God’s love for the world is relentless.  He doesn’t give up on anyone while there is still an ounce of breath in their lungs.  Look at Jesus on the Cross.  While Jesus is being executed in a horrible manner, He is still expressing His love for the very people who are mocking Him and murdering Him.   He prays to the Father to forgive those who are killing Him for they know not what they do.  The Holy Spirit draws one of the two criminals crucified with Him to Jesus in repentance.  Even a Roman Centurion at the foot of the Cross is compelled by Jesus’ death to acknowledge with surety that He was the Son of God.  The Holy Spirit was obviously working on the man who led those who literally pounded in the nails.

While humanity is killing Jesus, God is still drawing humanity to Him for salvation.  That sort of unflinching love is astonishing.  His love is perfect and eternal.  He moves heaven and earth to seek after His lost sheep regardless of what the sheep get themselves into.

Is there anyone in your life that you have given up hope for?  That seem so lost there is no chance that they will turn around and follow Jesus?  Take heart, Jesus hasn’t given up on them.  His love will relentlessly seek after them no matter how far they stray until He brings them back into the safety of His flock.
