Patricia Heaton Speaking up for the Powerless

CBS posted a fawning story about how Down Syndrome is being “eradicated” in Iceland.  When we hear eradicated, we don’t immediately think of a bad thing.  We may jump in our minds to polio or tuberculosis and the fight against those deadly diseases in the past.  Or the ongoing efforts by doctors around the world against malaria and ebola to prevent these diseases from happening around the world.  Jonas Salk and the eradication of polio is one of the great achievement of recent history.

The problem is this story had nothing to do with treatment or prevention of disease.  CBS was engaged in what George Orwell called “double speak” or “newspeak”.  It is the deliberate use language that obscures, disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words.  It is usually employed by those with an agenda to hide the truth behind things more palatable.

So firings become downsizing so a company doesn’t look bad.  Bombing an enemy position becomes servicing a target.

And in this case, the choice to deliberately kill every single Down Syndrome child that is conceived in an entire country becomes the same as eradicating a faceless, nameless plague.

Every single sweet creation of God killed before he or she was born is equated with saving millions of lives.  It is a ghastly horrifying truth that must be avoided at all costs.

It is a crime on a scale that would have made Adolf Hitler proud.

Speaking of the Nazis, do we recall who the target of Hitler’s first systematic murders was?  The Jewish people were not singled out first for extermination.  It was the mentally and physically disabled.  Those who were deemed to be not useful to society.  It was argued that it was humane and good for society to murder these people as quickly as possible.  Eradicating all those who were less than perfect according to the Nazis was better for their race.

Eugenics, the false science that says that we as people can choose who lives and who dies based on our own standards of usefulness bore a horrible toll.

It is the same selfish amoral philosophy that motivated Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood and many of the race based sterilization programs that mar the history of past century.  Jews, people of color, Native Americans and other chosen minorities were deemed “scientifically” useless.  The authorities therefore attempted to remove them out of the gene pool through preventing them from having children.

It is ironic in a time where the voices of the media scream and cry for the claimed rights of the few, they ask the same loaded question that motivated the prior eugenics based atrocities. “What kind of society do you want to live in?” as if killing a child is like picking out drapes.

Patricia Heaton pointed out the horrifying truth behind this propaganda piece here:

Iceland isn’t actually eliminating Down Syndrome. They’re just killing everybody that has it. Big difference. #Downsyndrome #abortion

Good for her!  George Orwell said in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.  This is certainly true here.

What is even sweeter than seeing the truth proclaimed is the responses to her tweet.  People are sending her pictures of the special loved ones and family members with Down Syndrome in their lives.  Wonderful little creations of God that Iceland and many other similar countries are proudly eradicating.

What joy in response to great evil.  Love expressed in response to clinical executions.  Sweetness in response to sin.

Be warned.  Evil is never satisfied with what it has now.  It always wants more.

In Nazi Germany, first, it was those deemed defective that were ruthlessly and systematically killed followed by the enemies of the Reich.  Before long, it was the millions upon millions who had sat back and done nothing or agreed when the defenseless were removed for the benefit of the rest.

CBS asked what kind of society do I want to live in?

The kind that speaks up, judges fairly and defends the rights of the poor and needy.  That speaks for those who have no voice.

  1. God help us, is all I can say. I do not know why parents feel they can pick and choose what kind of child they are going to have??? All of this baffles me. The next thing you know it is going to be because they “do not have blue eyes or blond hair.”

Every single child has the right to be born. You know when I was a child I was molested. I was talking to an acquaintance and we were going to vote. Her son works for CPS and we were talking about abortion and this was her statement to me, “You have no idea how many sexually abused children my son sees. Sometimes it would be better if they had never been born. So abortion is not that bad.”

Rage engulfed me, but I was able to maintain composure. What she actually told me was, “Since I had been molested I had no right to life.” Me, a mother of three and a grandmother of six. Nine people would have never of been born, if my mother had chosen to abort me.

It is a crime, it goes against everything about God, and most call it a “right.” A “right to kill.” That must make them feel awfully good about themselves. God Bless, SR
