Sing Praises to the Lord
My awesome son, Tommy, wrote a modern day Psalm of Praise that I have to share with you. I pray that it blesses you as much as it blessed me.
Maker of all creation
You spoke all time and space into existence
In your presence your enemies bow down before you
I can do nothing but acknowledge your power
Even the universe declares your greatness
I will praise you for your might
Lord of Lords
My life testifies to the magnificence of your changing grace
You pursue me despite myself
The evidences of your work are displayed throughout my life
Without you I would be lost
I will praise you for your love
God of my righteousness
The thought that you would die for me is incomprehensible
No human word can begin to express your love
You bore the cross for me and took my rightful punishment
I’m now a child of God, I am who you say I am
I will praise you for your grace
King of kings
Like a father who takes care of his small children
You watch over me and still love me despite my foolishness
Through all my sinfulness you still call me your own
When you see me you no longer see my sin, but you see Jesus instead
I will praise you for your salvation
King of my heart
Why should I worry, why should I be dismayed
Why should I hate life, why should I despair
Why should I be afraid
You are in control, you want what is good, you give me strength, you are where I find my hope.
I will praise you for your guidance
Wonderful Savior
Let my life be an example to those who are around me
Like a lighthouse guiding ships in the dark
So shall my life be a light to those who are lost in spiritual darkness
My life is yours, so let it be one that gives you glory
I will praise you for your hope
Awesome Creator
Though many stumble, fall, and get washed away by the waves of the world
I will build my life on the firm foundation that is your word
Reaching those around me and those I am responsible for with your love
As for me and my future household, we will serve you
I will praise you for your foundation
Almighty God
Oh my soul will cry out to you in the days of distress
Only with your strength will my faith survive the constant battles with the wiles of the devil and my own sinful desires that plague my thoughts
Only through you
I will praise you for your strength
Alpha and Omega
I will fight the good fight and look forward to the day when I can walk with you
But in the present day I will devote myself to the eternal work of spreading your gospel
Knowing of the enormous need for salvation in the world, I will not hesitate to speak of your gospel
So much more as I see the day drawing nearer
I will praise you for your promises
Savior of the World
I have decided to follow you, no turning back, no turning back
The world behind me, the cross before me no turning back, no turning back
If none go with me, still I will follow, no turning back, no turning back
I will praise you for always being with me
Amen!
All glory to God for His grace and mercy at work in his life. “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 Jn. 1:4. It is such a joy to see the Lord working in and through others…and one of the sweetest gifts to see in our own children. How amazing the Lord is!!
I love this psalm. When I first saw it, I wrote it down on some 3×5 cards (each stanza separately) and I pull it out often during the day just to read the words. 🙂 Give your son a HIGH FIVE.
