A Night of Beautiful Praise in America’s Capital

My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Those who did not know me before Jesus likely cannot understand how much of a miracle getting to this point represents. It remains shocking to both of us that God blessed us a life that is totally different and so much greater than the one that we planned or expected. Therefore, as our anniversary approached, I looked for a way for us to mark the day and enjoy a special time together as a couple, while also praising the Lord. I found it through Worship in the Heart with Brooke Ligertwood at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC. This special night of worship and fellowship blew whatever expectations we had going in completely out of the water and perfectly marked the occasion.

Though Brooke Ligertwood of Hillsong is a famous artist and she sang with a band on a stage, I would honestly not call our night a concert. Everything about this Holy Spirit filled event stayed true to the advertised intent of the gathering: to hold an intimate night of worship and praise. This was due to both the venue and the obvious heart behind the event.

Reclaim Rest by Rejoicing in Your Master’s Identity

The World Stage Theater at the Museum of the Bible was not only beautiful and comfortable, but also is staffed by people who obviously care about their work, see you as a person rather than just customer, and who love Jesus. This and the size of the theater made it feel much more like a Sunday worship service than a typical concert. This was reinforced through every aspect of the night.

The music itself was phenomenal. Brooke Ligertwood’s talent was amazing which you probably already know if you have heard her classics like King of Kings or Desert Song. She was just as good to hear, if not better, in person. Yet, what really struck both my wife and I was her heart for Jesus, love of the Bible, and humble sharing of her story. She started the night by talking about worship and the hopes with this project in a relaxed and personal manner. She then continued throughout the set to share her testimony and the stories behind the music. It was a blessing to hear how Jesus saved her and of her love of worshipping Him. It felt like sitting down with a group of Christian friends, hearing more about their walk with Jesus, and singing praise music.

What Does it Mean to be Born Again?

This first concert was part of the new Creatr project at the Museum. This involves a number of prominent Christian worship artists, including Brooke, KB, and Brandon Lake working to highlight the meaning and importance of worship in our lives as Christians. Music and songs of praise have been a big part of the Christian life from the beginning. I am always amazed when I read of Jesus and His disciples singing praises after the Last Supper. This the focus of the project, the worship nights, and also new exhibit recently opened at the Museum, All Creation Sings. I was told that it is wonderful by the folks sitting next to me in the Theater.

I believe the intention is to hold these worship nights on a regular basis. If they are anything life Worship in the Heart with Brooke Ligertwood , I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Here is my favorite song she played (though this not from our night) – surprisingly, one that I have never heard before. It sounded just as good live.

(Note – I did not receive anything for this review. I just love opportunities to praise Jesus and encourage my faith and want others to be blessed as well).
