What does the Bible say about Peace?
Peace can be hard to come by in this world. There are so many dangers, threats, and worries that flood us every day. The nightly news is enough to leave us curled up in a fetal position whimpering. It is impossible to feel real peace if we understand just how fragile life really is. We can be well one day and beset by illness and calamity the next. This is even more true in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is enough to give us insomnia if we don’t hide behind denial.
But the Bible sets out it need not be so for those who follow Jesus. We can face the truth of the world and still sleep peacefully according to the Psalms, no matter how scary life seems. We can rest and not be anxious. We can have real and lasting peace.
How do we do it? We don’t on our own.
Jesus does it for us.
We have peace through His death and resurrection. He is the Prince of Peace.
Peace is impossible for us on our own so Jesus came to give it to us.
Jesus died on the Cross to make a way for man to have eternal peace from the God who we sin against. He then allows us to shelter in Him so that the things of this world do not move us. Jesus also guarantees an eternity of peace in heaven with Him.
It is peace now, years from now, and through eternity.
