It is Finished!
We are not meant to live a shame-filled Christian life. A life in Jesus should not be one crushed under the weight of condemnation. Jesus paid too high a price for this to be our reality.
IT IS FINISHED!
They are the words of Jesus as He hung on the Cross. They are some of His last words before dying. He was in excruciating pain. It took great effort to get them out. They are obviously important. So what do they mean?
Our debt is paid. The huge backlog of justice God stored up for mankind was poured out on God’s Son. The penalty for all of our sins was taken by Jesus. The scales of justice were balanced. Jesus paid it all for us so that all of our sins can be washed away…forever. That is right. Forever our sins are gone. Jesus died so He can take us, His wayward creations and present us to the Father perfect and spotless.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
25 To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen. Jude 24-25
This is why shame and Christians have no place together. Yes, we sin and yes, we should feel bad about it. But Jesus already washed us clean of it so Go and Sin no more! He who is forgiven little, loves little but she who is forgiven much…?
