Looking at Circumstances and Not Jesus
Do you really love me, God? Are you really my Messiah?
John the Baptist is an amazing man of God. He is the prophet of the most High. He went before Jesus and prepared the way for His arrival. Yet, when Herod throws John in a stinky, dank prison, John appears to wrestle with the same thing we do. He is a wonderful man of God, but he is just a man. So when John looks around at his prison, the Romans still ruling and things not going according to his plan, this leads him to question Jesus – Are you really the Messiah?
John’s eyes are not fixed on Jesus so his judgment is clouded.
